“Green Rubber’s DeLink technology turns vulcanized compounds from ELT into a recyclable compound that can be reused, giving it a new utility to produce a wide variety of new rubber products such as shoe soles.
This is the case with Timberland “Earthkeepers” footwear, in which they use soles composed of 42 per cent of recycled rubber. The devulcanised rubber components of one ELT would approximately make about 30 pairs of soles.
On the other hand, TNU argues that “a study led by Malcolm Pirnie, reveals that using 4.5 kilos of recycled rubber instead of virgin rubber, avoids approximately 37.9 litres of CO2 being emitted, and the fuel that is used in the manufacture of synthetic rubber also decreases by 3.79 litres.
