After the Goodyear purchase of the company, Cooper Tire is stepping up as a member of Spain’s SIGNUS Ecovalor
Cooper Tire Joins SIGNUS
The American tyre manufacturer, Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd, has joined SIGNUS Ecovalor with the aim of ensuring the correct environmental management of the tyres they put on the market, at the end of their useful life. Cooper Tire was recently bought by Goodyear Tire and Rubber. So, this membership of SIGNUS brings the company into line with Goodyear’s corporate approach to tyre recycling globally.
SIGNUS, a non-profit entity, is responsible for the management of the replacement tyres that its member companies put on the market, collecting annually about 200,000 tons of tyres from more than 25,000 workshops throughout the Spanish territory. The responsibility of SIGNUS is to carry out the correct management and give value to the materials obtained from their recycling, consolidating the existing markets and opening new opportunities to these materials in different sectors such as automotive, construction, railway, infrastructure, energy or fashion.
For companies, such as Cooper, which delegate their responsibility to SIGNUS, it is a great opportunity to show their commitment to sustainability and the circular economy for the added and differential value offered by SIGNUS through the various innovation and development projects that it has been implementing for years with tangible results and that it carries out in collaboration with universities , laboratories, institutions and companies in different sectors.
