At SIGNUS‘ annual meeting with the press, its Director General, Gabriel Leal, reviewed the main data of the agency’s activity during 2020 and explained the main developments for 2021 brought by the amendment to DR 1619/2005, approved last August.
SIGNUS Introduces Tyre Tariffs for 2021 including 1,400mm plus sizes
In addition to the producer register, the most notable developments are the regulation of the classification and sale of second-hand tyres and the incorporation into the extended responsibility of the producer of tyres with a diameter greater than 1,400mm, which have been added to the new tariff structure. These tyres are distinguished by the S-Category S which has its own Ecovalue amounts.
The new rates for 2021 have been adequate to increase producer responsibilities and to meet the cost increases experienced by management processes, resulting in a weighted average increase of 21.68%.
The meeting also heard that there had been a differential between tyres coming into the market and tyres being collected. A variation of about 20 per cent. This was explained by the shortage of tyres during the summer of 2020 and the not inconsiderable number of undeclared imports into the market.
Leal also reviewed the different projects in which he is working in collaboration with different companies, universities and research centres in line with the Spanish strategy of Circular Economy with which SIGNUS is fully committed.
