RecyBEM has published the figures for tyres from the replacement market for the first quarter of 2022.
RecyBEM looks back on a quarter in which the collection number increased. In the first quarter of 2022, 2.4 million used car tires from the replacement market were collected in the Netherlands.
Figures from RecyBEM show that certified collections in The Netherlands almost approached the collection record of the first quarter of 2020: in 2018, 2019 and 2021, the collection number for the first quarter was about 2.2 million used tyres, but in 2020, as in the previous quarter, around 2.4 million discarded tyres were collected from the 10,000 garages, tyre companies and municipalities that participate in the RecyBEM system in the Netherlands.
RecyBEM collectors recovered all used tyres from the replacement market directly or indirectly via suppliers from all garages and tyre companies. The increase in 2020 was partly due to a large clearance at companies during the corona crisis. The current gain may be related to the increasing demand for tyres driven by economic growth.
