Since January 2019, RecyBEM has certified 20 tyre collection companies. The certification lasts until the end of 2021. These companies will ensure the structured and efficient collection of used car tyres from the replacement market in the Netherlands.
Twenty Dutch Tyre Collectors Certified by RecyBEM to Manage Dutch Tyre Collections
The collectors who have demonstrated that they comply with the requirements with regard to operational management and fire safety have received a quality certificate from RecyBEM. In order to qualify for the RecyBEM certificate as a collection company, the collection company must comply with the set requirements and regulations. This is based on the principle that a quality management system is operational and effective in accordance with the NEN-EN-ISO 9001: 2015 standard.
In addition, the Collection Company must comply with the supplementary requirements relating to operational management and fire safety and prevention. In the past year, the companies were audited by SGS Nederland and LBP | SIGHT, whereby, to date, twenty collection companies have proven to meet the requirements.
RecyBEM guarantees the quality of the collection, processing and administrative process at collection companies. Every three years, candidate collection companies are certified for this by independent institutions. SGS Netherlands assesses whether the assessment criteria for operational management and LBP | SIGHT checks whether the collection company meets the fire safety and prevention requirements laid down in the Fire Safety Assessment Criteria. Annually, an audit by RecyBEM is also performed to check compliance with the contractual obligations.
“We try to improve the quality level of tire collection in the Netherlands by working together with professional collection companies that meet all the quality requirements. It is good to see that we have been able to award the RecyBEM certificate to twenty tire collection companies after the certification process of the past year “, says Kees van Oostenrijk, director of RecyBEM.
