Hunter Boots Partners with First Mile in Recycling Campaign

Hunter Boots and London based First Mile are operating a wellington recycling campaign. Customers are being asked to recycle their old wellingtons by dropping them off at Hunter Boots in Regent’s Street in London, or by using the First Mile recycling service.

The aim is to see old wellingtons recycled into equestrian surfaces and clients making a deposit are entitles to a 15% discount on the purchase of a new pair of boots.

Diverting one tonne of rubber to horse arena surfacing was expected to save three tonnes of CO2 emissions compared to when new rubber is used.

Hunter creative director, Alasdhair Willis said this initiative gave customers in search of new boots a chance to do so, while minimising the environmental impact. Willis said: “Our product donations and new in-store and online recycling service offers a sustainable end-of-life solution that also allows our business to continue to grow.”

First Mile partnerships director Lily Gray said it was a “credible, local and easy” solution for anyone with an old pair of boots. Gray said: “We are committed to building trust and busting myths about recycling in the UK and making it easier for everyone to be involved in changing the alarming stats we have all seen in the media.”
