Greentire’s Roberto Bianco Calls for Balance in Italian Recycling Emphasis

In an interview with Italian publication Greenstyle, President of Greentire, Roberto Bianco outlined a concern about the emphaisis of the latest tyre recycling decree in Italy.

Greentire’s President Questions Imbalance in Italian Recycling Decree

“The new decree has improved… some critical issues, but much more remains to be done. By way of example, today it is permitted to recover 100% of ELT as energy, while maintaining an environmental contribution similar or equal to those who carry out 50%, or more, through material recovery. This does not seem fair to me, being that the recovery of material is much more expensive.

A further improvement will be allowed by the End of Waste decree, which will give the right “hierarchy” to derivative products. And, hopefully, it will also help to change the mental approach to these products, which, even today, are considered in the negative sense of waste derivatives. An important contribution, then, could also be for CAMS ( the minimum environmental criteria) becoming increasingly widespread and relating to more and more products.
