Brazilian body looks at updating waste tyre regulations.
IBAMA Consults on Waste Tyres
The Environmental Quality Board of the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) has opened a public consultation to discuss the collection and destination of used tyres. Interested parties have until February 3 to send comments and suggestions.
The contributions will serve to improve the Normative Instruction nº 1 of March 18, 2010 that deals with the procedures, deadlines and cases of exemptions. In addition to improving the standard, regulatory issues will be updated. The Normative Instruction that is being consulted upon intends to improve and detail the procedures and methods of verification of compliance with Conama Resolution 416, 2009, which deals with the prevention of environmental degradation caused by waste tyres and their environmentally appropriate destination.
