Bogotá Continues ‘Llantatón Days

The Colombian government has announced tyre collection days for Bogotá in August 2022.

With the aim of promoting the preservation of the environment, and conserving the public space of Bogotá, the Ministry of the Environment invites citizens, tyre fitters, and other tyre collection establishments to participate in the next ‘Llantatón‘ activities, which will take place on August 11 and 25th.

The sessions will be held in the towns of Barrios Unidos, Usme, Kennedy and Usaquén and bicycle, motorcycle and vehicle tyres with rims up to 22.5 that have reached the end of their useful life will be received at the authorized points.

The collected tyres will be delivered to a licensed collector, in order to guarantee their proper management, either at an energy level or as an input for new production processes.

In addition to the Llantatón‘ sessions, the environmental managers of the towns will carry out awareness-raising activities with the owners of the collection establishments to publicise the environmental regulations that govern these operations, as well as the process to join the post-consumption programs of tyres and comply with the provisions of Decree 442 of 2015.

So far in 2022, the Ministry of Environment, together with other district and private entities, has collected more than 12,000 units in 16 days of ‘Llantatón. In addition, it has educated around 770 tyre collection establishments to contribute to the reduction of environmental risk.

The District Administration will continue to convene these ‘Llantatón‘ activities to educate the public on the management of ELT, which requires differentiated management to avoid contamination problems.
