In a new venture for Aliapur, has shipped tyre shed from France to Senegal by water.
Aliapur Ships TDF by Water to Senegal
Aliapur takes to the water to ship TDF to Senegal. Some 5300 tonnes of tyre shred (Powergom) was supplied from two sites: the Gilles Henry site, located in the immediate vicinity of the Toul river platform (near Nancy), on the Moselle, where 1,500 tons were loaded in mid-May on a barge which met with a ship at the port of Dunkirk, via the canal network. The Ramery site, near the Harnes river platform (near Lens) supplied 3,800 tonnes that were loaded on 3 barges between late May and early June
The tyre shred was sent to the Sococim cement plant in Rufisque, Senegal. Senegal becomes the first country in West Africa served by Aliapur.
It is also the first time that Aliapur has operated from Dunkirk, a sea and river port that is large enough to absorb the storage in transit of the 5,300 tons of Powergom fuel until it is loaded onto the bulk carrier. The crossing lasted about ten days with an arrival in Dakar on July 21st. The shipping avoided some 200 truck movements.
At the rate of 26 tonnes per truck, the CO2 emissions of more than 200 trucks have been avoided. In the short term, Aliapur wants to eliminate the storage phase in the port and transfer the Powergom directly from the barges to the ships, thus shortening the cargo’s passage through Dunkirk.
