After many years of procrastination since the intention of removing the T8 Exemption, DeFRA has finally made a clear statement on the issue.
The Statement indicates the intent of “closing loopholes” and “preventing Exemptions from being misused”.
DeFRA, “will also introduce greater record-keeping requirements for all waste Exemption holders; impose limits and controls on how multiple exemptions can be managed at one site; and ban the use of exemptions at a site operating under an environmental permit.” Said the statement.
Of course, the removal depends upon the changes to the legislation getting parliamentary time, and then there would be a three-month transition period.
