Tyre Recycling Aided by Michigan Grants
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) has awarded more than $1.2 million in grants to fund 72 community scrap tyre drop-off events and other tyre clean-ups across the state. Additionally, five grant projects will support the removal of old tyre piles at private properties.
Community events provide affordable, convenient, tyre recycling opportunities to residents, including the creation of year-long collection sites and roadside pickups, according to an EGLE news release. Recycled scrap tyres will be used in asphalt to pave roads, as mulch in gardens and playgrounds and in manufacturing processes.
