The operator of the site of a tyre fire in Bradford is to appear in court as a consequence of his actions.
Bradford Tyre Fire Prosecution Regarding Failure to Comply with EA Requirement
The Environment Agency has now confirmed what action it is taking over the Spring Mill Street fire, which saw hundreds of thousands of tyres burning for days last year.
It follows the operator being served an enforcement notice earlier this year after failing to clear the remaining mounds of tyres from the land.
After failing to comply with the notice which required the removal of the waste tyres, the operator has now been summoned to appear in court. The case is expected to be heard at Bradford Magistrates’ Court on November 30.
This case – whatever the outcome – is a prime example of why the T8 Exemption needs to be removed.
